"Stainton"

A track from our CD "Let the Echo Fly" and a regular at our concerts. Nahum Tate and Nicholas Brady's adaptation of Psalm 10 set to a tune by Reuben Hudson. Images courtesy of Mark Loasby taken at All Saints Church, Faringdon and Faringdon United Church, Oxfordshire.

This song was found in manuscripts from Bampton, Oxfordshire date 1821 and sung at the annual supper of the choir in Winterbourne, Dorset. A version with religious words "Loving Jesus" is found in the Sacred Harp. Here we're singing the secular words in church at Chadlington, near Chipping Norton.

A great favourite of ours at singing workshops.  Dave Townsend often leads singing workshops with the Christminster Singers, and this short clip shows us with a group of singers and musicians who have just learned this lively tune from Adderbury, Oxfordshire to "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" .

This anthem based on Psalm 66 was written by Michael Beesly c 1750. We're singing this at the Stephen A Schwartzman Centre in Oxford as part of the Oxford Sings event, April 4th 2026. Many thanks to David Wheeler for providing the video and used with permission.
